The Teacher
She is a lover of words, people, and teaching.
Each day reading her students’ faces Like the pages of a favorite book-- A familiar but endlessly exciting adventure. She is a storyteller, sharing tales of her life with her students. Teaching so much more than a subject, but life’s truth, Inspiring each of them to make life an interesting challenge. She is a breaker of walls her students form, Afraid of what others might think of them. A builder not only of vocabulary but also of confidence. Wanting to give each student the moon, But holding back instead, Showing them how to reach it themselves. Searching for the buried treasure in each one And rejoicing when she uncovers it. Some of her students are leaving now, But there will be others tomorrow. There will be more stories to tell, And more buried treasure to discover On this endlessly exciting adventure she calls teaching. |
