O Let it Fall
Dark angel, corruption from on high,
How bright you are as you fall and die, Like a comet, falling into the depths, You gather up sin without regret. The mountain crumbles, your flower exposed, Bewildered minute, without any hope, The sun is dark, The moon becomes blood, The innocent are crying, But the heathen copes. O let it fall Let it fall Let it fall, It's never quite as good In theory as in practice. The people run in terror, The people run in fright, A lurking fear creeps forth in the night, A cat catches a rat, Without a useful trap, Into the light, He sends his soul tonight. (Who wrote these stupid lines?) Isn't it strange, Isn't it funny, How life is like a gallon of jelly? You cook it up, You stick it in your mouth, It goes down and down, Your bottomless pouch, And there it stays, Until the day, It comes again for fun and play. (The last parenthesis was a rhetorical question.) O let it fall Let it fall Let it fall, It's never quite as good, In theory as in practice. Put on your makeup, Put on your dress, I'm not entirely sure Who you're trying to impress, Give me a kiss, From anyone will do, I really don't know How I can live without you. I once saw a funeral home, Its name was Cantu, And when I asked why, the man said, "Because you can die, And I can too!" O let it fall Let it fall Let it fall, It's never quite as good In theory as in practice |
